The Weldon Spring Site

The Weldon Spring Site

The Weldon Spring Site, a location used to manufacture explosives during World War II and then later to process uranium ore, is now an area for education and recreation. Located on the site is an Interpretive Center that tells the history of the site as well as the Disposal Cell that covers 45 acres. Other features of the site include the 150-acre native planted Howell Prairie, a native Missouri plant garden, the Interpretive Center with meeting rooms, a viewing platform with a panoramic view of the surrounding area, and the Hamburg Trail that connects the Weldon Spring Site to the Katy Trail and August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area. Admission is FREE.
